Project Description

Project Overview:
With the Carnoustie Golf Hotel under new ownership the investment team was looking to significantly modernise the property and make Carnoustie a leading destination as a golf, hotel and spa retreat.  AGM Group were approached in the early discussion stages as a company known by the client and design team with the capability of delivering a professional service.  AGM secured the construction contract inclusive of mechanical  & electrical design and worked closely with the client, architect and hotel management team to deliver a comprehensive refurbishment programme. 

Challenges:
Maintaining hotel, spa and golf facilities during an extensive refurbishment project was always going to be a difficult endeavour.  With various functions and tournaments such as The Senior Open presented by Rolex and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship planned throughout the year the AGM team needed to be mindful of optimising any build periods and working closely with our partners. 

Solution:
AGM Group set out the key deliverables of the programme and gathered specific date, design and scope requirements from each party.  Working closely with the design team AGM programmed a phased approach to the building refurbishment utilising the twenty year’s experience of delivering similar projects.  AGM spent time surveying the mechanical and electrical services within the building and designed systems that complemented the high standard of finishes required with the phased approach.  Working closely with the client, management team, design team and external partners such as Rolex and Alfred Dunhill the AGM team remained cognisant of the requirements and constraints we need to work within.  Keeping strong communication links and establishing a set design strategy helped the team develop an efficient and effective plan to ensure full success of the project.

Outcome:
A project such as this that has various stages and internationally televised events involving worldwide celebrities and professional sports stars will always be challenging and we were pleased to see it be a complete success.  All of the functions committed to were delivered on time, the tournaments were a roaring success and the aesthetics of the hotel have been warmly received by guests, management, architects and the investment team.  It’s been a pleasure to work with the team at Carnoustie and we are pleased to be retained as a preferred contractor for client, architect and the management team on this property but also for being recommended to other projects of a similar nature.
