SEPA & Threadneedle Property
AGM are pleased to have been instructed to works on a retaining wall on the River Gala beneath Gala Water Retail Park in Galashiels. Galashiels is a small Scottish Border town sitting on the River Gala served by the Park and its retailers currently; Boots, Clarks, M&S Simply Food, New Look, Next and Pets at Home. Both SEPA and SNH vested an interest in the project and a survey was made of the species present, breeding times, feeding habits and so forth.
AGM were selected as an experienced contractor who methodically approach each project with a positive attitude and a willingness to problem solve.
Our goal was the protection of the river and its wildlife from the works. The works were to restore and replace stone within the wall and repoint along its length.
We selected a methodology of rope access to achieve the works and minimise disruption of the habitat. Being in a busy retails park we had also to consider protection for the public including good and services vehicles as well as wildlife. Safe systems of Work were developed and employed and no damage was sustained by any party during. On this occasion it was nice to be close to considering flora and fauna. We had to wait for one pair on nesting birds to fledge their brood. With the specialist help of SNH, SEPA and our specialist Rope-access subcontractor AGM achieved our environmental aims.
The client was delighted with the outcome of the works and invited AGM to look at further projects.
