Project Description

Project Overview:
AGM Group have worked with Superdrug for over 15 years and during that time have completed shopfitting projects from Whitechapel in central London to Shetland.  Superdrug have a massive presence across internal retailing with a network of brands that span the globe.  This partnership has been a result of our continued strategy to listen to our clients requirements and implement the project deliverables.  Of prime importance is customer experience.  We use our experience and design skills to consider the structure, environmental constraints and flow of the store to ensure it optimises the needs of the customer and the values of the brand.

Bridge Of Don is one of the largest suburbs in Europe and is located to the north of Aberdeen.  With an expending population it has been a target location for Superdrug and we were delighted to work with both the landlord and the client to ensure the property could be development in to a flagship retail park store.

AGM Group provided mechanical & electrical design and principal contractor services to deliver the prestigious project.

Challenges:
Time is always a major challenge in retail projects.  We all want things to be done quicker but the key to delivering a successful new store is the critical path analysis from initial acquisition survey to cutting the ribbon.  We work closely with the client to ensure that once the legals are complete its all systems go to deliver the store.  We work through designs in advance and ensure statutory permissions are granted timeously to prevent any unnecessary delays.  It’s a team effort between all partners.

On this project we had to work with the landlord to complete several aspects of dilapidations to comply with the terms of the legal contracts and we were happy to grow that relationship with Savills as two like minded parties.

Solution:
The solution is to set clear goals and work together to achieve them.  This comes from the client and working in partnership with AGM Group we have proven, long established, success of doing so.

Set ourselves demanding but realistic time scales.  Its important for all members of the team to remain motivated and to have a hunger to succeed.  With this comes an intensity within the shopfitting project and by adding in experience, design knowledge and skill we able to deliver the clients needs.

This project involved stripping back an existing fit out of 720 square metres to give us the basis to begin the process of delivering a Superdrug branded showcase.  When we are working with Superdrug we are well aware that they are already partnering with internationally renowned brands that are looking for a prestigious environment to be displayed in.  These brands include, but are not limited to, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, YvesSaintLaurent, Prada, Versace, Mugler, Viktor&Rolf, Lancome, Narciso Rodriguez, B Cosmetics, Bourjois, B Perfect, e.l.f cosmetics, Essie, L’Oreal, Revolution, Max Factor, Maybelline, Milani, MUA, NIP+FAB, NYX Professional Makeup, Rimmel, Sally Hansen, Studio London Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Olay, Naturally Radiant, L’Oreal Skincare, CeraVe, Garnier, Simple, La Roche-Posay, Nivea, Superdrug Vitamin E, Vaseline, Hada Labo, AHC, Bondi Sands, L’Oreal Paris Elvive, Fini By A-Star, Tresemme, Shea Moisture, Bleach London, Garnier Ultimate Blends, Herbal Essences, Aussie, Nice ‘n Easy, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, L’Oreal Excellence, John Frieda, Cantu, Always, Bloom, Colgate, Dove, Fruity, Layering Lab, Oral B, Philips, Sanctuary Spa, Sanex, Sure, Veet, Venus, Armani, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Guess, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Paco Rabanne, Versace, Victoria Secret, B. Mens, Dove for Men, Gillette, Harry’s, Just For Men, King C.Gillette, L’Oreal Men Expert, Lynx, BNivea Men, Philips, Sure Men, Aptamil, Childs Farm, Cow & Gate, Huggies, Johnson’s Baby & Kids, My Little Star, Pampers, Sudocrem, Tommee Tippee, Vital Baby.  We see it as a partnership between ourselves, our client team and the partner businesses they work with on a daily basis.  These household name brands chose to work with Superdrug because they want to be displayed prominently and in elite surroundings within any store.  Its AGM Groups job to make that happen.

The store required significant mechanical & electrical upgrades which included new fire alarm system, new air handling unit for ventilation, new air conditioning systems, lighting, small power systems, data network installation, intruder alarms, CCTV and audio music system.  AGM worked with the building regulations system in Scotland for non-domestic properties to match up the requirements with suitable systems for the volume and occupancy targets of the store.

From a fabric perspective our construction team delivered acoustic and fire rated partition wall systems, fire barriers, security roller shutters, suspended ceilings with different heights and bulkheads to allow for illuminated signage to be installed.  Fire doors were installed, floors were screeded and luxury finishes installed, plastering, ames taping and decorations were carried out, bespoke services columns and electronic point of sale (ePOS) systems were installed as well as security measures such as tagging systems.

Delivering so many aspects in a tight timescale requires experience, knowledge, skill, discipline and determination.  AGM Group, the clients teams and our partners demonstrated this once again and we were delighted to part of launching the new store.
